L shaped modernity in Milton Keynes

The brief for this L shaped garden in Milton Keynes was simple : to utilise the area outside the new kitchen / living room extension and maintain an area of lawn and calmness for the other side.

A simple pergola outside the old living room takes advantage of the view on this side of the plot, offering a space for relaxation and contemplation. The existing Indian sandstone slabs have been repurposed  and the planting is simple, low maintenance but effective. A paving stone path leads to the new sunken area.

The difference in level outside the new extension has been solved with a retaining wall, cladded with the same porcelain tiles uses for the floor.

A lush arrangement of flowering shrubs, grasses and seasonal perennials together with the simple pergola structure complete this entertainment area.
